A new national survey says Louisiana's lawsuit climate is the second worst in the nation. The study, conducted by Harris Interactive, interviewed more than 1,400 company executives and attorneys from all over the country. It took into account the state's legal system, including damage awards, judge competence, and jury fairness.
But not everyone agrees with the survey. Plaintif lawyer Gordon McKernan says the study is misleading. The ranking could potentially hurt the state economically because it keeps big business away.
