Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — After months of construction, Baton Rouge's newest firehouse is up and running.
The new Fire Station 13, on Sharp Road, replaces the old firehouse, which was built in 1966.
There's room for three trucks and several people for each unit.
Baton Rouge's Fire Chief, Ed Smith, and people nearby told us it's a very much needed replacement.
“It means a great deal to the community. We have the ability to move our station forward,” said Smith.
“We're very grateful to have this wonderful facility”, stated nearby resident Jackie Gray. “People need to come by, see it to see how nice it really is and see how they can better serve the community.”
The new station is just under 10,000 square feet. It's ready for use right now.
