Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal called the federal health care legislation passed over the weekend unconstitutional. The governor says the cost to fund the new health care program is just too expensive during these difficult economic times. He is also worried about the huge expansion of the Medicaid program and new taxes. Jindal says the government can't require people to buy insurance, and he plans to protect his states' rights.
He has asked Attorney General Buddy Caldwell's office to work with other states to protest the federal health care overhaul.
Jindal plans to look into a bill that attempts to nullify parts of the health care legislation. He just wants to be sure that there are no unintended consequences for the state.
