Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — One church in the most dangerous part of Baton Rouge is doing what it can to fight against the city’s crime problem.
The Oasis Church in the 70805 zip code will hand out school supplies to the community on August 11.
Bishop Charles Wallace is the pastor at the church. He says promoting education in the community is the best way to make it better.
Residents believe this is great for the community considering many in the area are on tight budgets.
"I really do think it helps because some people don't have things to give to their kids for school,” stated resident Dynasty Franklin. “I think it's better if the church gives school supplies every year, year-round."
The event kicks off at 10:00 a.m. at the Oasis Church.
