NBC News — Cuba President Raul Castro said thursday that his country will not become another Libya or Syria, describing Cuba as a peaceful country. Castro said Cuba is a small island made up of very peaceful people and will not be a base for those to do what happened in Libya or what's happening in Syria.
He spoke at a ceremony marking the 59th anniversary of the famed attack on the Moncada Barracks that started the revolution that led to the ouster of Cuban leader Fulgencio Batista. Castro repeated earlier statements that Cuba is prepared to talk with the U.S., but only as equals.
