NBC News — Scientists are expressing their shock over the recently released photos by NASA that shows a significant ice cap decrease in Greenland. The satellite image shows 97% of the ice cap has melted, scientists are blaming unusually high temperatures.
NASA has released satellite pictures of Greenland showing that the surface thaw level of the Greenland ice cap in July accelerated dramatically from just over half of the ice cap area to a full 97% in connection with unusually high temperatures. On average half of the ice cap melts but the amount of melt this summer is causing major concern in the scientific community.
