Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — The CATS bus system now has more money to upgrade its fleet.
The company received more than $5 million in federal grant money to buy new buses.
The money will be used to buy 15 small buses and 12 larger buses, which are 35 feet long.
CEO Brian Marshall says the money will help keep the older buses running a lot longer.
"It does a lot of things. The biggest thing that it does it will give us an opportunity to reduce some of the breakdowns, which cause delays," stated Marshall.
Marshall expects all the new buses to be out on the road by the middle of next year.
