New Orleans, La (NBC33) — The New Orleans Saints will hit the practice field for the first time tomorrow as training camp officially gets under way in Metairie.
But before the teams practice, Interim Head Coach Joe Vitt will be in the courtroom. Vitt will testify for suspended linebacker Jonathan Vilma.
Vilma is scheduled to have a hearing to stop his season long suspension for his alleged role in the Saints bounty scandal.
Vitt previously filed an affidavit on Vilma's behalf.
“At no point did our players ever cross the white line. Vilma and Fujita were in our meeting rooms - I know his intent and he always puts his team first,” stated Vitt. “I stand behind Jonathan Vilma.”
Drew Brees submitted an affidavit last week, but is not expected to appear in court.
