Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — The Advocate, Baton Rouge's daily newspaper, says they're ready to once again expand their coverage into New Orleans.
The Advocate is reporting they're looking into reworking the front page of the Baton Rouge paper for a New Orleans edition.
That news comes as the Times-Picayune announced they're scaling back their paper to three days a week.
There's no word on when the plan will go into effect, but the Advocate is reporting the move may mean more jobs for the paper.
In today's edition, Advocate CEO Richard Manship said in part, “From the moment that they announced that they (the Times-Picayune) were going to a three-day-a-week newspaper, we thought there would be tremendous opportunities for the Advocate to fill a void they're creating."
The Advocate had a presence in New Orleans until 2009; the paper had to cut back because of the recession.
