BATON ROUGE,LA (NBC33) — People living in near BREC's Maplewood Park in North Baton Rouge braved the rain to attend an anti-violence youth event.
"The Children of Tomorrow: The Truth About It" event brought together kids of all ages to discuss what kids can do to avoid a life of crime.
Kids got a chance to grab some grub, play a few games, and talk with mentors from the community.
Event organizer Skippy Reado says it's important for the community to come out to events like this to help curb crime.
"In this park there is no violence today," said Reado. "If we could just get one day at time of no violence everything would be ok. We have to take it one day at at time. "
