BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — For some in Baton Rouge the news that two officers were dismissed within a few days of each other for separate criminal issues is concerning.
"You don't know who to trust these days. if you can't trust the police, who are you supposed to trust," Jerricha Kline, exclaimed.
Others in the area believe there are just a few officers ruining the reputation of the rest of the department.
"I am quite sure you've got good officers out there, and the few bad officers, it just make it bad on the rest of them you know. Because it's hard for us to trust them and call them when they do nothing in most cases," Alonzo Williams, a Baton Rouge resident, explained.
Still others are happy to see some officers dismissed, to them it means the administration is policing their own officers.
"I am sure it's just like anybody in society. i mean you've got your bad eggs as you say, and the rest have to suffer for it because than you generalize," Sissy Bergeron, a Baton Rouge resident, added.
Baton Rouge police chief Dewayne White released a statement that said in part…
"We have to police our own house and sometimes that's hard and it's not something that I relish, but it's something that someone in my position has to do in order to carry out the mission of this department and that is to protect and serve."
Chief White added if citizens are going to be held to high standards officers should as well.
