LOUISIANA (NBC33) — The Department of Health and Hospitals has confirmed six new cases of West Nile virus. They've been reported in East Feliciana, Jefferson, Rapides, St. Tammany, and Tangipahoa parishes.
The cases range in severity from no symptoms to potentially fatal.
Four cases were confirmed in the last several months.
Just recently in East Raton Rouge Parish officials with the mosquito abatement program told us they've been an increase in the number of local mosquitoes infected with West Nile.
