BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The largest multi-media, juried art exhibit in the state of Louisiana Forum 35 Art Melt starts this weekend in downtown Baton Rouge.
The show which is open to Louisiana resident artists only, is now in its 9th year. The Art Melt strives to promote professional artists throughout the state of Louisiana while providing an opportunity for the public to experience the best of local fine art, music, performing arts, and culinary creation.
The weekend actually kicks off on Friday, July 13 at 7:00 p.m. at the Shaw Center for the Arts with the Art Melt 2012 Preview Party. The attendees include 2012 artists, sponsors, and a selective group of industry professionals.
The 2012 Art Melt will take place in downtown Baton Rouge on Saturday, July 14 from 5:00-10:00 p.m. All artwork accepted to the competition will hang in the gallery and remain up and open to the public for 4 weeks following the event. The Art Melt Marketplace will take place outside the show gallery in downtown Baton Rouge.

2nd Place: $1,000
3rd Place: $500
Forum 35 Award: selected work will be featured on next year’s commemorative poster
Ann Connelly Award: selected artist will be offered a 4-week exhibit inside at the Ann Connelly Fine Art Gallery
Country Roads Magazine Award: selected work will be featured in Country Road magazine along with the artist
