BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — After initially fleeing the scene of an attempted robbery on foot, two juveniles, ages 12 and 13, were later identified and charged for attempted burglary and simple criminal damage to property of a local shop in New Iberia.
On June 10 detectives with the Directed Patrol Unit were conducting surveillance in the area of EJ’s Easy Shop on Avery Island Road when they observed two juveniles attempting to break into the business.
The two suspects fled on foot and were able to evade deputies. Later, detectives were able to identify the duo. Both were charged with attempted burglary and simple criminal damage to property. Both were released on a summons into the custody of their parents.
Sheriff Louis Ackal would ask the public if anyone observes juveniles out past their curfew to please contact the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office at (337) 369-3711.
