Louisiana (NBC33) — The Department of Education has released how many parents applied for vouchers for their children.
Over 10,300 applications were received so far by the state, which far exceeds any early predictions the department of education had.
When the process closed several weeks ago - more than seven thousand applications have been received.
So what happens next?
If the number of applicants is more than the number of seats available at a specific school and grade level, then those scholarship seats will be awarded through a lottery process next week.
NBC33’s Jason Newton will have more on the voucher program tonight on NBC33 News at 10.
