State Medicaid cuts announcement to be made on Friday

Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — The Department of Health and Hospitals says they're planning to announce to deal with almost $900 million in cuts to the Medicaid program.

A spokesperson for DHH says the announcement will be made by the end of the week.

No specifics on the cuts were given, but hospitals and doctors say they're bracing for a big blow to their budget.

The cuts equal eleven percent of the state's almost $8 billion Medicaid budget.
