BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The American Cancer Society has launched a nationwide research study and it’s looking for volunteers from the Baton Rouge area.
The long-term study will examine why some people develop cancer as opposed to others. Those who participate will be required to provide information over a 20 year period.
In particular the American Cancer Society is seeking minorities to participate. That’s because so far research indicates a higher rate of fatalities among minorities and researchers hope to figure out why.
NBC33’s Alex Deiro [1] has all the information about the study, what it hopes to accomplish and how you can get involved. She will have that full report coming up on NBC33 News at 5:00 p.m.
