NBC News — An Israeli court tuesday cleared former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert of the major charges in his corruption trial that forced him from power. Olmert was found guilty of a lesser offense and it was not clear whether that verdict could send him to jail.
Olmert was convicted of breach of trust which does carry a prison term. If sent to jail he would become the first Israeli prime minister to serve time. The 66 year old Olmert was acquitted of illegally accepting cash-stuffed envelopes from an American supporter.
