BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A man was sent to the hospital today after he was allegedly attacked by a pit bull. The aggressive dog had to be shot by a responding officer because it was considered a public threat.
EMS reports that a 28 year old man was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries this afternoon after he was bitten by a pit bull. The incident happened on the 3500 block of Ozark Street.
We’re told a Baton Rouge Police Officer was forced to fire his gun at the dog as it continued to show signs of aggression. The dog died as a result of the shooting.
The Baton Rouge Police Department is currently investigating as well as EBR Animal Control. The owner of the dog was issued a citation by EBR Animal Control. As for the officer, he has not been placed on administrative leave.
