PAINCOURTVILLE, LA — On Thursday, July 5, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force - while conducting surveillance and patrols in the Paincourtville Community - stopped to question a male subject loitering in a public roadway (Crossover Road). The subject threw a handgun after a uniformed agent activated the lights of his vehicle and exited the vehicle while in full uniform.
After a short foot chase, the subject was apprehended and found to be possession of marijuana and 3 rounds in magazine for the handgun which was located in his pants pockets. The gun recovered is a 40 caliber, high point semi-automatic handgun.
Agents identified the male subject as Justin Fair, 29, of Paincourtville. Fair, who is a convicted felon (Drug Convictions), was transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center, where he is currently being held.
Fair has been charged with the following: Loitering, Resisting an Officer, Possession of Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substances (Marijuana—4th Offense), Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of CDS. Bond has not been set as of the time of this release.
