BATON ROUGE – Bally Total Fitness, WVLA NBC 33, and The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports have teamed up to help Baton Rouge residents with “Losing it in Louisiana.” Spearheaded by NBC 33 Weather Anchor David D’Aquin – a group of 8 (eight) Baton Rouge residents will be given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to lose weight and change their lives forever. Each participant will receive a membership to Bally Total Fitness, a personal trainer, a nutritionist, and a supportive environment to foster weight-loss. The ultimate goal of “Losing it in Louisiana” is to get people moving. In addition – the weight-loss journey of each participant will be documented both on-line and on NBC33 News. Viewers will have the opportunity to participate at home and follow the weight-loss journeys of David and the entire “Losing it in Louisiana” team. “The ultimate goal here is getting people – and I’m included in the overweight population of Louisiana – moving and in better shape. It’s my hope that we’ll help get people motivated to improve the quality of their lives,” explains David D’Aquin. “This partnership is a great one because it sheds light on the obesity problem, and it gets people moving. We’re excited to have the exposure from NBC 33, and we’re thrilled that Bally has stepped up to the plate to help keep people motivated,” explains Rudy Macklin. Allen Hebert with Bally Total Fitness says, “This program is a perfect opportunity for us to work with the community we serve to get people motivated to get in better shape. It’s an opportunity for us to give back to the community that’s given so much to our organization.” “Losing it in Louisiana” starts in the beginning of April. It’s a six-month weight-loss program designed to help people look and feel better. Viewers will be able to track the process of our participants on-line and on NBC33 News.
