BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The Baton Rouge police department has arrested a man who they believe to be involved with the shooting of two men over the weekend.
Michael Francois, 23, of Baton Rouge was arrested on Sunday, July 1 and charged with Accessory to First-Degree Murder and Accessory to Attempted Murder. That’s because they say he drove the vehicle that the shooter used to getaway from the scene of the incident.
The incident happened at around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 30. Officers were notified that shots had been fired around the 4500 block of Rabey Street at College Drive. When they arrived witnesses stated that someone had been shot, but had fled the scene in a vehicle.
Patrol officers learned that a vehicle matching the description was located on Perkins Road at South Acadian. When they approached the vehicle they found two men inside suffering from gun shot wounds. One was dead and the other was suffering from a life threatening injury.
The surviving victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
BRPD detectives are currently seeking the suspect responsible for the shooting.
