LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (NBC33) — For the first time in 16 years there's a new Sheriff in Livingston Parish.
Jason Ard was sworn in today, Friday, June 29, as the newest top law enforcement officer in the parish. He's replacing Willie Graves who retired after 16 years as Sheriff.
"Livingston Parish is growing tremendously and unfortunately that brings growing pains," Sheriff Ard said. "But I assure you that your Sheriff's Office is ready and they are definitely, definitely up to the challenge. Starting this week you'll see more patrol deputies, a beefed up, more aggressive narcotics unit, a newly formed burglary division to help fight those growing pains."
Ard beat out retired State Trooper Mickey McMorris in last year's election.
