BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — East Baton Rouge Sheriff Sid Gautreaux was sworn in today for his second term. After being sworn in he said his goal is to cut down on the parish's seemingly escalating crime problem.
Sheriff Gautreaux says teamwork with the Baton Rouge Police Department is one way to put a dent in the parish's crime issue.
"We got to work together, not just on a sometimes basis,” he said. “We got to work together on an all the time basis. It's got to be every day, 24/7, and that's what the people expect. That's what we need to be doing in law enforcement today to be successful with what we're doing."
Gautreaux went on to say that he believes the BRAVE program is a positive step towards putting a dent in crime in the city.
