TANGIPAHOA PARISH, LA (NBC33) — A two time DWI offender was busted for his third after he fled the scene of an accident on foot and hid in a wooded area.
The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that Preston M. Mooney, 44, of Convington was arrested on Monday, June 25. They say he was involved in a traffic crash on Traino Landing Road.
When deputies arrived on scene, they learned that Mooney had run away from the scene of the crash. A concerned citizen told deputies where he was hiding and they were able to locate him quickly.
Reports say Mooney was visibly intoxicated but did not release his blood alcohol level.
Mooney was arrested and charged with one count Hit and Run Driving with Injury, Driving Under Suspension, Careless Operation, and Driving While Intoxicated (third offense).
