NATIONAL NEWS (CNN) — A Rittman man has been charged in the death of his ex-girlfriend, whose body was found inside her car Thursday, officials in Summit County said.
According to New Franklin Township police, 25-year-old Ashley Biggs, of Akron, was reported missing by her co-workers at 12:45 a.m. Thursday.
Biggs worked for a Domino's Pizza on South Main Street in Akron. Wednesday night, she'd been assigned to a delivery at a business on West Turkeyfoot Lake Road and instructed to go to the back door.
Investigators said Biggs never came back, prompting her concerned co-workers to file the missing persons report.
New Franklin Township officers went to the delivery address on Turkeyfoot Lake Road. That's when, police say, officers found "blood" and "signs of a struggle" at the scene. Biggs was nowhere to be found.
Hours later, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office alerted officials in Summit County that the body of a female had been found in a rural area, inside Biggs' car.
New Franklin Township police later confirmed that Biggs' ex-boyfriend, Chad Cobb, 30, had been arrested and charged with aggravated murder and kidnapping in her death. The former couple has a child together.
According to Akron Municipal Court records, Cobb was convicted of domestic violence back in 2005. He was sentenced to probation and anger management classes, and ordered not to have "domestic disturbances with Ashley Biggs."
Further details about the investigation were not immediately released.
