Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Officials with the High Tech Crime Unit say they're stepping up protecting children online.
Most kids are out of school, which mean they have more time on their hands during the summer months.
Now, investigators are trying to get the word out to keep your kids safe online during summer vacation.
“Get the computer out of their bedrooms - that would be my number one thing,” stated David Ferris with the HTCU. “The computer does not belong in the child's bedroom. I have never heard a logical explanation from a parent or a child about why that computer needs to be in there."
Officials say to put a computer in high trafficked areas so you can monitor what your child is doing during their computer use.
