LONDON (NBC) — Sebastian Coe, Chairman of the London Olympics organizing committee abhors reports of Olympic tickets being sold illegally.
The United Kingdom’s Sunday Times reported Olympic Committees in several countries and authorized ticket resellers were caught selling tickets for up to ten times their face value.
While an international Olympic Committee inquiry isn’t expected to complete until after the London Games, The I.O.C. can suspend any officials implicated in the scandal.
Coe commented on the situation, “I spoke to all 204 National Olympic Committees and told them you are in a country that does not tolerate this, you’re in a country where press is probably at its most forensic. I am surprised that anybody would have wanted to take that risk knowing the marketplace that we’re living in.”
