UNITED STATES (NBC33) — A controversial tweet by Saints quarterback Drew Brees has him in the center of the team’s bounty scandal talk today.
Brees tweeted, "If NFL fans were told that there were weapons of mass destruction enough times, they'd believe it. But what happens when you don't find any?"
The comment compares the amount of bounty evidence to the number of weapons of mass destruction that were found in Iraq during the Bush administration.
The NFL gave twelve reporters access to the evidence used to discipline the Saints players during a meeting after Monday morning's appeal hearings.
