LAKE CHARLES, LA — Officials with the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) in Lake Charles contacted Louisiana State Police detectives and reported someone was attempting to obtain a state-issued identification card using fraudulent documents.
Troopers responded and detained Oscar Perdomo-Barrera, 24, of Houston, TX. An inspection of the documents by detectives verified they were fraudulent.
Troopers, with assistance from the U.S. Border Patrol, determined Perdomo-Barrera is a Honduran national who is in the country illegally.
Perdomo-Barrera was arrested for unlawful possession of fraudulent documents for identification purposes and filing a false public record. He was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center and a hold has been placed on him by the U.S. Border Patrol for being in the country illegally.
Perdomo-Barrera faces up to 5.5 years in prison and a $5,500 fine if he is convicted.
