CROWLEY, LA (NBC33) — A former NFL athlete and current educator in Crowley is locked up after having inappropriate relations with a student.
Details are very limited with the investigation. However, the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that Bryant Keith Ortego, 48, was arrested on June 6 after he turned himself in at the Sheriff’s Office.
Apparently a warrant was issued for his arrest after an investigation revealed that he had prohibited sexual conduct via telecommunications with a student.
Along with his position as an education, Ortego was formerly a wide receiver with the Chicago Bears, including the championship season of 1985.
We contacted the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office requesting more details on the charges. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation they refused further comment.
Ortego was booked into the parish jail with bond set at $25,000 by District Judge John Trahan.
