Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — A Louisiana congressman stopped by NBC33 Studios today, talking about his efforts to help commerce continue flowing out of our local ports.
U.S. Congressman Charles Boustany represents the Lafayette area, but says he is pushing an amendment on the transportation bill that would ensure funding is provided to properly dredge ports here in south Louisiana.
Boustany is confident the bill, with his amendment, can get approval. He says channels that are not properly dredged and maintained, can cost millions.
He went on to say that he doesn't expect any real movement on it until after the presidential election in November.
