LOS ANGELES (CNN) — The Los Angeles Kings are Stanley Cup champions for the first time in franchise history.
Fans spilled into the streets outside the Staples Center to celebrate Monday night, after the Kings beat the New Jersey Devils 6-to-1 in Game 6 of the finals.
The Kings got the lead early on, scoring three goals during a five-minute power play in the first period.
Kings goalie Jonathan Quick stopped 17 of 18 shots, earning him the title of playoff M-V-P.
The Kings became the first eighth-seeded playoff team to ever win the N-H-L title.
The victory parade will be held Thursday.
