Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Local law enforcement officials are once again opening up the downtown Baton Rouge jail for the 24-7 misdemeanor offenders.
The sweep begins next Monday and will keep the jail open around the clock in order to process and clear out those with outstanding warrants.
After the success of last year's program, the Metro Council voted to fund the jail with $50,000 to reinstate the program this year.
Officers are asking those with unpaid tickets and warrants to “take care of their business” prior to the trial period or be ready to possibly face jail time during the two-week jail operation.
