Officials working on the chemical clean-up at CoCo Resources in Denham Springs breathed a sigh of relief this morning as rain showers didn't last long in the area. The Livingston Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness worked all night to kep areas outside the site from extra contamination.
They were concerned that the rain might pick up chemicals from the building and run-off into ditches and streams. Officials strengthed the dams put into ditches Tuesday. They also brough in extra vacuum trucks to pull in any water that might have accumulated with the rain.
That machinary will stay on site for now in case of further rainfall.
