NBC News — The area around Japan's crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant may may be unsafe for more than a decade. That's according to a report released monday by the Japanese government.
In the report, officials estimate it could take longer than 10 years before radiation returns to safe levels. The estimate was based on data collected near the plant. The government is warning that as many as 28,000 evacuees will not be able to return home until 2017.
