NBC News — Two mortars struck a square filled with Shiite Muslim pilgrims in Baghdad sunday, killing at least six people and wounding 38. Sunday's attack occurred ahead of a major Shiite religious festival.
Officials believe the death toll could rise due to the seriousness of the injuries. During the same religious pilgrimage in 2005, about 1000 people were killed. Although overall violence in Iraq has dropped, Sunni insurgents with links to Al-Qaeda are still hitting Shi'ite targets to stir up sectarian violence.
