WALKER, LA (NBC33) — LifeShare Blood Centers hosted a blood drive in Walker Saturday to help a little girl suffering from a rare genetic disorder Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia known as HHT.
10-year-old Mclinda Robertson has a disorder where a person's body is too weak to sustain blood flow.
HHT affects one in 5 thousand people. People dealing with the disorder often have to go to the hospital to get blood transfusions.
Patients can also appear to have a nosebleed that doesn't go away.
June is HHT awareness month. If you would like to give blood to patients in the Baton Metro Area LifeShare Blood Centers is hosting a blood drive on June 3 and 7th.
The blood drive on June 3 takes place at the Walmart in Prairieville 17585 Airline Hwy from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
To donate on June 7 go to the Walmart in Gonzales 308 North Airline Hwy. from noon to 6:00 p.m.
