SAFETY ALERT — As summer has arrived early and the kids are out of school, the focus of a lot of family playtime is the backyard swimming pool.
About two weeks ago a small child drowned in Ascension Parish. Accidents involving children can happen so quickly, we urge all adults to keep children in site at all times.
A child can drown in mere inches of water, so above-ground and shallow wading pools present the same opportunity for tragedy as an in-ground pool.
If for some reason a child “goes missing” in an area with access to a swimming pool, it is recommended you look in the pool first. In a crisis, seconds count.
Swimming is a fun summertime activity, and here’s wishing all a great summer, but remember to keep safety first.
