Libby Foret came on Baton Rouge Lagniappe to talk about the Uplifiting the Coast Festival to be held at the Baton Rouge State Fairgrounds on June 8-10.
Foret said that the purpose of the festival is to let the public get involved to save our land. Foret explained that our coast is dying and is literally disappearing over the years.
The festival will help to fund coastal restoration programs already in place ike replacing marsh grass and maintaining rock jetties - a critical first defense against erosion. It will feature live music on all three days, lots of Louisiana seafood, arts and crafts, a silent auction and more. The price of admission is $5.
Volunteers and sponsors are needed. For more information visit www.uplifitingthecoast.org or call (225) 268-4254.
