NEW ORLEANS, LA (NBC33) — In New Orleans, a Covington chef has been named Louisiana's seafood king! That after the fifth year of the Louisiana seafood cookoff wrapped up.
Ten chefs from across the state competed for the title. The winner, Keith Frentz, now goes to the national seafood cookoff later this year.
This cookoff is sponsored by the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing board.
Frentz says he still can't believe he won.
“I don't know what I was thinking. It was kind of like it this for real? It's a shock we put a lot into this dish so it paid off.”
Frentz make a wild des almonds catfish over local crawfish and red bean succotash.
The national competition is this July in New Orleans.
