LAFAYETTE, LA (NBC33) — As the search for Mickey Shunick continues on day six the Lafayette Police Department asks business owners and residents to check surveillance footage for a possible sighting.
In particular they ask the community to review between the hours of 1:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 19.
“Being that there is no confirmed route that was taken by Mickey Shunick on her bike, she could have been possibly captured by equipment not checked by police,” Cpl. Paul Mouton, Lafayette Police Department, said in an official release. “Anyone finding any footage of interest is asked to call the tips line at (337) 291-8633.”
Since the beginning of the investigation the Lafayette Police Department has said that the investigation is a top priority.
“We’ve deferred a lot of our resources to find this missing girl,” Cpl. Paul Mouton, Lafayette Police Department, said. “We’re using every means necessary to locate her.”
The search for Shunick has extended to include all of Lafayette Parish. However, the case is still listed as a missing person due to a lack of evidence to support foul play.
Shunick’s home is located near the intersection of Congress Street and Ambassador Caffery Parkway. She is 5’1”, about 115 pounds, and has blond, curly hair. She was riding a black and gold bike. She was wearing a bright, multi-colored shirt, grey acid washed skinny jeans.
“Mickey’s description is so unique,” Ashley Says, a close friend of Mickey, added. “She has the blondest hair you’ve ever seen and she wears really exuberant clothing. She’s hard to miss."
