Port Allen, La (NBC33) — Emergency crews have started to remove unaffected cylinders from the Air Liquide chemical plant.
Right now they are also analyzing the condition of those cylinders that were affected by the fire at the plant on Monday morning.
Some of them exploded and caused a major fire at the plant that injured one.
Louisiana State Police say they will continue to keep the road near the plant, which is at the intersection of Highways 190 and 983, closed off. They also won't let evacuees back inside their homes.
Police believe that though the first fire is out, the threat of another is still a major possibility.
There is still no timetable for when the roadways will be reopened or when people will be able to return to their homes.
