Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — The Mississippi River in Baton Rouge will be a big stop for steamboats and cruise ships.
The American Queen steamboat docked in the Capitol City over the weekend, and brought around 500 visitors.
The American Queen has 11 more trips planned.
On top of that, three other ships are expected to dock in Baton Rouge.
Paul Arrigo with Visit Baton Rouge says it's a big economic boost for downtown and the rest of the city.
"This is another win for Baton Rouge. Another win for economical development through tourism for the Capitol City," stated Arrigo.
Visitors from all the ships are expected to go well into the thousands.
