NBC NATIOANL NEWS — A scientist who was called in to help remove an alligator from a Carteret County, North Carolina neighborhood ended up being bitten on the arm by the reptile.
Fred Boyce, a herpetologist from the the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores was called after residents could not reach a state wildlife officer.
Deputies say when Boyce arrived he threw a towel over its head to subdue it, and that apparently agitated the alligator.
Moments later the alligator knocked Boyce down and bit him on the arm.
Boyce was treated and released at a nearby hospital.
The alligator was eventually captured and moved to a different location.
