GEISMAR, La (NBC33) — Three people sent to the hospital today after a chemical release at the Westlake Chemical Plant in Geismar this evening.
Trooper Russell Graham, with the Louisiana State Police tell NBC33 News there was a power failure, and after that chemicals were somehow released into the air. As a result, three workers were rushed to the hospital.
NBC33 was told the workers inhaled the chemicals and are going to be ok.
Trooper Graham say the threat is now under control.
The Westlake Chemical Plant was closed for a month back in March, after an explosion and fire caused seven million dollars worth of damage.
