BATON ROUGE, La.(NBC33) — Caddo - A Shreveport woman was arrested after chasing down two people with a hatchet. Investigators say a victim was trying to back her car out of a driveway when Melissa Ann Mcswain came barreling down the road. The victim says she went on with her business until she stopped, and Mcswain kicked her car. Then, we're told Mcswain ran the woman off the road. The victim says she was so scared, she got out of her car and ran, and that's when Mcswain allegedly pulled out the hatchet and chased her. While the victim was filing a report with police, Mcswain drove by. Police say, they found a hatchet in her car and took her to jail.
Saint Landry - A high school that has been closed for almost twenty years, is still giving back to the community! The Amy Bradford Ware School in Opelousas closed it's doors in 1993, but last month, a reunion of over a thousand alumni was held at Evangeline Downs. 25 hundred dollars was raised, and all that money was donated to Louisiana state police troop eye for their "Grant-a-Wish Program." The program makes dreams come true for kids with terminal illnesses.
Rapides - A third grade class in Alexandria has been reading a book called "Flat Stanley”. He's a paper doll, and Miss William’s third grade class sent Stanley on a field trip to The White House. All the students wrote a letter to President Obama, and they were shocked when Flat Stanley showed back up at their school with a letter from the President. Receiving a letter from President Obama was exciting for everyone, and the teachers and parents agree, the project taught some valuable lessons students say they won't forget any time soon.
