NBC NATIONAL NEWS — Australian stargazers have enjoyed clear views of the "super moon" thanks to good weather.
The scientific term for the phenomenon, a lunar perigee, is coinciding with a full moon.
The once-a-year cosmic show is lighting up the night sky in the land down under.
The moon appeared bigger and brighter than usual because it's at its closest orbit to earth.
The last “super moon” was on March 19, 2011.
