BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Animal activists are back in court today to help out a tiger living at a truck stop in Gross Tete.
The animal legal defense fund filed a lawsuit against the department of wildlife and fisheries.
That’s because they say the agency is allowing Tony's owner, Michael Sandlin, to keep the tiger without a permit, which is against the law.
A spokesperson from the legal defense fund says the judge decided wildlife and fisheries doesn't have to enforce that big cat ban right now.
The judge wants to wait until after Sandlin's court cases to keep Tony are finished.
