NBC News — China's top diplomat Dai Bingguo criticized human rights remarks made by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on thursday. Clinton said in a speech in Beijing that China must protect human rights, rejecting Beijing's criticism of the U.S. for getting involved in the case of a blind dissident lawyer.
Her comments came as the dissident, Chen Guangcheng, pleaded for more help from Washington. The blind, self-taught lawyer took refuge in the U.S. embassy in Beijing after escaping house arrest. He left wednesday to get treatment for a leg injury at a Beijing hospital but now says he wants the U.S. to fly him and his family out of the country.
